This morning I saw Jesus

Early this morning I was with my friend Gary. We ran into a homeless man who had been standing outside since midnight waiting for a soup kitchen to open. Snowing all night and frigid temperatures.

Gary invited this man to have a cup of coffee. The guy was quite literally almost frozen. Gary rubbed his hands together to warm them--it was the only way the homeless guy could hold a cup of coffee. Gary then proceeded to take the guy's tennis shoes off--they were soaked. The homeless guy didn't have any socks on. Gary got a towel and dried the man's bare feet.

This was the amazing part . . . Next, Gary took off his own shoes and socks and put his socks on the homeless man's feet.

This morning I saw Jesus . . . in the homeless man . . . and in Gary.

Reminds me of a song "The twenty-first time" by Monk and Neagle
We all need to be the hands and feet of Jesus. And yes, sometimes even give the socks off of our own feet. What a powerful example of what the body of Christ should be doing. Amen!!

Dear Greg and Gary
You have heard the call of Jesus heart, to serve humbly.

You actions give me the opportunity to introduce my non-profit org to you.

Comfort Socks is a 501(c)3 public charity that provides new socks to homeless shelters all across the United States.
Aside from the obvious hygiene benefits of new socks for homeless people and families, our mission is one of Comfort. We believe that new socks simply feel good, and will help tend to the soul as well as the body of someone going through a difficult time.

Comfort Socks welcomes volunteers to organize sock drives and spread the word about our work.
To learn how you can help, please visit our website @ www.comfortsocksonline.org

Thank you for acting on the compassion in your heart and stepping forward to help others.

Please follow our twitter, facebook and our blog, so you can always be up to date with what's happening.

Hope to hear from you

I can't wait til the day when stories of compassion like this are expected, well known, and the cultural norm for all of us...because we're all doing these things throughout the world....His Kingdom come on earth....what a day that will be!

Grateful for your example.

(What happened to the man btw? I assume he going to be ok)
