Haiti every day

I think we're all horrified at the images coming to us from the devastation in Haiti. And we should be. We are called to respond with prayer and sharing our resources.

The thing that has struck me as I return from amidst the devastating effects of poverty in Ecuador is this . . .

28,000 children under the age of 5 die from poverty or preventable poverty related diseases EVERY SINGLE DAY around the globe. In other words, the horror of Haiti, in reality, is being repeated every moment of our lives.

What will we do? How will we live? When will we respond?

How easily I know I can get sidetracked into my own miniscule "problems" of life until a catastrophe wakes me from the stupor. Could you imagine if we heard the cries that God does every day? I think we'd either be frozen by our own power or incredibly mobilized by His. I don't know.

g,

so yet another god story.. at work I put on my calendar in big bold #'s encircled w/a heart 28,000, then below that 45,000, then below that 65,000.. I've had 3 conversations just this week about haiti, which leads to compassion, which leads to RT, C3, and then I circle back to their heart.. God is using the tragedy of haiti to spread the good news in orrville oh this week.. love ya man and thanks for shaking me out of my spiritual cozy little box..
