Pure Sex

Wow, what a weekend!

Interviews with channels, 3, 5, 8, 19, several newspapers, numerous radio shows, the Today show and MSNBC. All because we put up billboards advertising that we would be talking about sex.

You can listen to the first sermon in the series, "Pure Sex," by going to www.rivertreechristian.com. The sermon title is "What Happens In Vegas Won't Stay In Vegas."

Good night . . . and if you're married, I hope you have lots of great sex . . . with your spouse. And if you're single . . . I pray you will stay pure . . . and have the best life imaginable.

Brother Greg,
Wow, what a message! You did an excellent job delivering a blessed message on a "difficult" subject. And the best part of the whole message was TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
I am so proud to be a member of this awesome church, with a pastor as dedicated to Jesus Christ as you are brother Greg.
Jesus Saves!

I can't say enough about how clearly I saw God's involvement in this weekend. He was the one the brought the media in. He was the one that inspired Greg's heartfelt, gentle, and REAL words this weekend. God wants this message out! At RiverTree we continue to pray together as willing servants that God will use us to change the world - to bring Heaven to Earth and I think he's taking us up on it. I thank God for the leadership we have at RiverTree - that he speaks so clearly through them and has prepared them to be bold and to lead not just the local congregation, but also to lead other churches by example. I'm not only talking about our pastoral leadership (which I am SO thinkful for) but also the many many leaders in "mini-ministry." I think of the phenominal outreach potential that is begining to be realized through an incredible motorcycle ministry, the Acts-like model of fellowship, worship and spiritual development being realized by our new Thrive model, the inspired and visionary leadership in our childrens' ministry, the dramatic impact of our missions work. The list goes on...

Today is a great God day!

Greg,
my take away is that anything that disrupts the relationship between me and my wife is hurting my chances for a deeper relationship with her. while i am not caught up in the sex sin, I did recognize yesterday a sin in my life that has hurt my relationship with her. SOMETHING TO WORK ON...thanks for a great message, and the opening of my heart to a problem area in my life.

Man! I was on vacation...but I heard you kicked up quite a fantastic stir.

One of the things that I love about RiverTree is that it is uniquely relevant to the culture around us. RCC is IN the world, but not OF it - digging into what's going on around us and how we should conduct ourselves as Christians.

I graduated from C.V.C.A. All seniors there have to take Apologetics. The first thing out of the chute was the "metaphysical gap" and 3 questions science can't answer: Where did we come from? Where are we going? How should we then live? That last one gets missed a lot, even in church.

I've heard a gazillion sermons that gave Bible knowledge, but to me, it all means absolutely nothing unless there is a practical application for living life in it. Every time I read Scripture, I ask, "What does this have to do with us today?" Ask and you shall receive. =D Every word in the Bible is amazingly relevant for today's Christians. It addresses every single aspect of our lives, even our private ones. Why should sex be any different? The world's already talking about sex and super-saturating our culture with it. It should be natural for the Church to launch a counter offensive. We do for everything else, don't we?

Christians preach that we should see through advertisements that use sex to reel us in, and now christians are using the same tactic to bring people to church/conferences. I'm sure the conference was inspiring, but the use of sex in the media just gives us non-christians more of a reason to find christianity hypocritical.
