Praying for direction
The visit rocked us a bit. Our time with the little girl was fine (I can't imagine being 12 and walking into this kind of meeting). It was the hour before, with the five case-workers, counselors, etc., that wasn't what we anticipated. There's a bit more involved than simply bringing her into our home. Turns out she needs to be in Wooster or Ashland one to two times a week for therapy. Ouch! It's a 50 minute drive each way for us and then 1-3 hours wait while counseling takes place.
We're continuing to pray . . .

They could have told you that before you met this little girl.
I always thought that children were placed into foster care in the county they reside in, ie. this little girl would be placed with a family in Wayne County.
Yeah, it would have been helpful. What I've come to realize is that these people have incredibly difficult jobs. The more I immerse myself into this, the more I appreciate them.

Love and caring families aren't bound by county lines. This is why it takes a village to help raise a family.
By the way we are up to 4 volunteers.
It seems that the reason you need to travel so far for her counseling sessions is tied to CCHO. Is it possible to have her case transfered to a local agency? Even though most agencies do not advertise as being Chistian or scripture oriented, if (due to the girls core values) you ask for a counselor that is a Christian the agency should be able to meet the need.
