44

Our 44th President has taken office.

I was in a meeting this morning. More than half of those in attendance happened to be African American. It was a wonderful time of enjoying a celebration of what God has done to bring about equality in the United States of America. One older black man stated, "This is the greatest day in history!" Another said, "I only wish my momma could see this."

As I watched President Barack Obama repeat the oath of office, I was holding my ten month old son, Elijah John--who happens to be black. Tears welled up in my eyes as I was reminded of how far this nation has come . . . how far we still must go.

God, may your blessings be upon President Obama and his family. May you place wise advisors around him. May he seek wisdom not from within but from You. May his strength not stir from military might but from the quiet confidence that comes from walking in Your ways. May he lead us by following you. Lead by kneeling. By serving. By trusting that we as a nation have been blessed for one reason and one reason only . . . to be a blessing to the world.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Unfortunately, after only 4 days in office, Obama's "true colors" are shining.

On Friday, Obama signed an executive order lifting a ban on federal funding for groups that help provide abortions abroad.

I pray that Obama hears God's heart on this one. One swipe of the pen helped eliminate SO much potential.

He's been showing those colors all along, he just has a rather unique slight-of-hand way of disclosing them.

It is of little consequence to me what anyone's skin color, gender, or nationality is. People are people, to me and I see no difference between one and the next. I am 31 years old, so I pretty much grew up very little prejudicial influence, but that also means that I am old enough to remember the Cold War and the politics of Eastern Europe. Obama is way too close to Marx for me to share anyone's feelings of how great it is that he was elected. None of that will matter after a while. "A communist is someone who reads Marx & Engels. An anti-communist is someone who reads Marx & Engels and understands it." (Ronald Reagan). I don't think it's all that great that history was made at such a cost...not just the cost of unborn life, but the lives of the living and the lives of those in our future, for Socialism is the stepping stone between capitalism and communism. Under communism, a man's life becomes nothing more significant than that of a 9-volt battery.

Yes, his "colors" are obvious and sad and concerning. But, all the reason to pray for him as a nation, church community and individuals. Imagine, if as a nation, every church service, every morning and evening we pray for Gods will to be done in President Obamas life!

Imagine how God would touch his life, thoughts and actions if millions of people were praying and staying current on the Presidents actions and decisions!
