And then Friday struck

Julie, Tabs and I spent the past week in Orlando, Florida at a Pastors' conference. The conference was amazing. But as amazing as the conference was, what Julie and I were really looking forward to was spending the weekend at the Magic Kingdom with our daughter Tabitha. Tabitha is eight--the perfect age for magic with Mickey.

And then Friday struck.

Tabs woke up with the flu. She threw up eight times in 24 hours. Sooo, for the next two days we settled for watching the Disney Channel.

Life is sometimes like that . . . you're hoping for the Magic Kingdom and you end up with the Disney Channel.

And by the way, having spent the past 48 hours trying to master it . . . Sudoku is from Satan!!!

I wholeheartedly agree about Sudoku. I used to do it on the subway on my way home from work. Sudoku causes insomnia. I would be trying to sleep but in my head I'd still be trying to put those numbers in the right place.

Where it is believed that crosswords help prevent Alzhiemer's Disease, Sudoku may actually increase the risk. Julie loves them, I "finsh" a corner box then promptly accept defeat.

I hope she feels better soon. Getting the flu on vacation must be going around. Just got back last Sunday from Beech Mountain, NC were skiing was the plan. Ended up watching from the window with the same flu. Still have to say I had a great time. Family, friends and the most beautiful view out my window.

Too funny.
Keep trying.
My sudoku book has literally become a journal of all of the dates, times and places I've been waiting. Scrawled over the top of each puzzle are a few simple words about what was up when I worked it "8-1-06 waiting for kids at football practice, 12 noon, ninety six degrees" or "12-4-06 waiting for the car at the service station" Since life is pretty busy and sudoku puzzles can be pretty challenging, the first puzzles I worked sometimes have two or three dates or times attributed to them.
My husband being so confident in his ability to do my silly little puzzle thing used a pen and after trying to change digits multiple times and ending up with a bigger and bigger mess, he just wrote "LOSER" over top of that puzzle and went to the next page. It would have been ok, but he repeated the same effort and result several times. He hasn't got beyond that concept of a satan/sudoku connection either.

Hope Tabs heals fast and doesn't share it with either of you.

There must be something UN-magical about the Magic Kingdom...something dark and forboding that nobody knows about. Something sinister beneath the surface where the thought of a good time makes children very ill:

Last year we went and took our daughter. We drove down and just as we hit Georgia, she got really sick. She was asleep almost the whole time with a fever that wouldn't break. When we finally got home, we got her to the doctor right away....pneumonia.

I refuse to do Sudoku. I stick to the crosswords. I've got a giant book of NY Times Crosswords right where I can get at it.

My 8 year old has the same bug as yours - though yours appears to be out-puking mine for the moment. They go to the same school - so no art auction for you tonight either I suppose.

Anyhow, I have a love/hate thing with Sudoku. I do the really easy ones to feel good about myself (even though they truly aren't all that "easy"). It's kinda like I remember algebra - tough to do at first, takes time and thought, lots of frustration, but can't stop - a kind of weird sense of accomplishment at the end (despite the mental exhaustion)...

DOH - have I revealed too much about the nonsense that floats about between my ears????

Don't try to fight it - do another puzzle before bed...
