Still lost in space.
Astronauts aboard the International Space Station have access to a gun. Yes, a gun. It's part of the survival kit stored aboard the Russian space capsule attached to the station. And everyone is equal--they all know where the gun is.
Just out of curiosity, who are these space cadets going to shoot to ensure their "survival?" I'm guessing that bullets won't do much good against alien invaders. Sooo, it must be to protect themselves from one another.
I personally wouldn't want to venture into the outer limits with people that I might need to shoot. But, then again, I did grow up watching Lost In Space, and we all know what happened with Dr. Smith.
The bottom line is this: You can take a human out of our atmosphere, but we're still broken, fallible, fallen . . . in need of a Savior.

It is hard to fathom that a “survival gun” could be called an effective tool on a space station. The concept of using a “survival gun” in an orbiting space station is the epitome of an oxymoron. What a uniquely human paradigm. Yep, you are right...yet another example of our need for a savior.
I believe you’d answered your speculation regarding the purpose of the firearm in the Russian capsule- “It’s part of the survival kit…”. Upon reentry, should the Russian cosmonauts crash land in the vast Russian wilderness, they shall have useful tools to assure their survival. A firearm is simply part of the kit that may be used to hunt for or defend against whatever they may encounter in the wilderness.
Blaming a tool for the broken, fallible, fallen nature of men makes about as much sense as blaming the hammer for your bruised thumb after you missed the nail head.
We need Christ to save us from sin due to our own wicked disposition but not which tool we used to commit sins.
